Abstract S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) predominantly accumulates in tissues and biological fluids of patients affected by liver dysmethylating diseases, particularly glycine N-methyltransferase, S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase and adenosine kinase deficiencies, as well as in some hepatic mtDNA depletion syndromes, whose pathogenesis of liver dysfunction is still poorly established
This makes it the preferred route when a patient cannot absorb B12 through the gastrointestinal tract
They contain large amounts of nutrients easily obtained from food (like niacin and riboflavin) and inadequate amounts of the nutrients GLP-1 patients actually need most (like vitamin D, B12, magnesium, and calcium)
This uncertainty is recognised in laboratory medicine guidance from bodies such as the Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (ACB) and the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath)
