Ferreira and colleagues conducted a pharmacokinetic and clinical short term randomised trial in which patients with motor fluctuations were assigned to a regimen of five daily doses of 100 mg levodopa with DDCIs for 2 weeks (500 mg of levodopa per day) and subsequently randomised to one of two regimens where opicapone 50 mg was added and the daily levodopa dose was reduced by 100 mgeither by reducing dose frequency to 4 doses of 100 mg or by reducing two of the 5 doses to 50 mg
