AFM lifters fail when feed oil to the lifter is low or mistimed. GM has released an updated VLOM (Valve Lifter Oil Manifold) # 12571609 to help address this problem. Install new VLOM is highly recommended. Anything that affects oil pressure to the AFM lifters will cause AFM lifter failures: includes failed oil pump, restricted oil
